Noel Hilliard was a major novelist of the 1960s. He worked as a journalist and was variously involved with left-wing politics. This, his first novel, Māori Girl, was primarily a response to racial discrimination in New Zealand. The story is that of Netta Samuel an attractive and easy-going Maori girl who lives with her family in the North Island. A casual and disappointing affair compels her to leave home in order to avoid the threatened disgrace to her family. Plunged into the grim vortex of city life, where Maori are at a disadvantage and lonely girls the prey to every stray and rascal, Netta only survives because of her innate honesty and simplicity.

Orders are processed within one working day of the order being placed. Once processed, our standard delivery times are between 3-5 working days (within the Auckland region). Rural deliveries may take an additional 1–2 days.
