This little hard cover book is a rare find indeed.
Dating from 1873! Written by W H G Kingston and published by Gall & Inglis, it is a work of fiction - a novel for children set in 19th century New Zealand. Handsome color frontispiece by Baxter, of 3 girls sitting in a door entrance, a fictional New Zealand scene in the distance. The Maori girl wears a Western dress, with a feather in her hair.
