This is a rare biography written by Edwin Bainbridge's school friend - T. Darlington soon after his tragic death during the 1886 eruption of Mt Tarawera. It is a detailed account about a devout young man who was a tourist visiting the Wairoa district of New Zealand and reconstructs his final hours, using his journal, describing his experiences and death at Macrae's Hotel. Includes stunning sketches and maps.
This lovely little rare book with gilt lettering and a very attractive original cover and spine , is a collectable first edition, published in 1887.
