Māori were a unique, distinguishing characteristic of New Zealand colonial life. For a time around the 1900s Australians called New Zealand ‘Maoriland’ and a few New Zealanders also used the name. The poet Thomas Bracken collected his verse under the title Musings in Maori-land, with images which were appropriately nationalistic.

This copy inscribed and signed by various former owners, it will be a lovely and important addition to any library of early New Zealand literature.
