This is a rare collectors item. Signed by renowned author and naturalist H Guthrie-Smith, copy number 726 of 1000 first editions.
This is his last book, published in 1936, it is a rather sad commentary of the effect of European occupation and the introduction of pest species on the flora and fauna of the South Island and sub-Antarctic islands. It is a pioneering plea for a shift in our conservation mind set before everything is lost!
