This is a very tidy fourth revised and enlarged copy from 1923 of this important account of the "Dominion's Air-Breathing Vertebrates".
Published by Whitcombe and Tombs it includes 153 b&w illustrations across 434 pages. Cloth hard cover boards, gilt lettering to cover and spine. Pre loved, VG+ condition which makes its a scarce collectible.
With an lovely calligraphic inscription to frontis page "Robert Donn From the Staff of the Auckland Teachers College 1938"
Robert Donn was an artist, born in Dundee, Scotland, who emigrated to New Zealand in 1921. He served in World War I before his move. He taught art at teacher's colleges in Dunedin and later in Auckland and was primarily known as a watercolour landscape artist, though he also worked in other mediums like oil painting and printmaking.
