William Satchell's first novel set on the isolated Kauri gum fields of Northland.
The book opens...."Between two and three hundred miles to the north of the city of Auckland stands a lonely inn. No other house is in sight, and the nearest building worthy of the name is removed from it a distance of seven miles."
This is the Methuen's Colonial Library soft cover edition produced for India and the Colonies only, dated 1902.
The poor old thing isn't in great shape to be candid! Front cover and first two pages detached and the binding is very worn. Good reading condition, very little foxing, but the precious treasure deserves to be handled with care. The good news is there are no silly tape repairs or other butchered attempts at salvage!
