This is a NZ fiction classic and quite a collectable these days.
William Satchell's first novel set on the isolated Kauri gum fields of Northland.
The book opens...."Between two and three hundred miles to the north of the city of Auckland stands a lonely inn. No other house is in sight, and the nearest building worthy of the name is removed from it a distance of seven miles."
This is the Methuen's Colonial Library cloth hard back edition. At the rear it contains several pages of publisher announcements verifying its age to March 1902.
The book is signed in pencil by the owner in flamboyant fashion on two frontis pages and at the rear, it also has a date stamp on the rear inside page of 15 Sep 1950 with a variety of hand written notes. The second frontis page has been cut in half.
Other than foxing and general wear and tear the condition overall is G+. Binding sound, no loose pages.

Orders are processed within one working day of the order being placed. Once processed, our standard delivery times are between 3-5 working days (within the Auckland region). Rural deliveries may take an additional 1–2 days.
