This second edition dates from 1881. So it pre-dates the Tarawera Eruption and offers rare insight into the volcanic region including the famed Pink and White Terraces before 1886.
It is a beautiful little book providing travelers with a comprehensive guide to NZ, in particular "its Boiling Lakes, Steam Holes, Mud Volcanoes, Sulphur Baths, Medicinal Springs, and Burning Mountains"
Blue cloth, embossed hard cover. Fold out 1880 map (now detached) of Auckland province and the central North Island. ex Epsom Trust library.
VG condition for age. Covers in excellent condition. Map detached with minor tear, Minor internal spine split, very minor foxing.
